#17. Read the newspaper.

Once upon a time, lockers in schools across the country housed students who were on the debate team, wore glasses, and knew who the vice president was.  These lockers are now empty and these kids are our bosses.

There is no life GPA.  Upon leaving the safe harbor that is school, our intelligence quotient is based on the ability to relate to and comment on our surroundings.  Reading the newspaper, watching the news, and listening to news radio are the only ways to climb this never ending mountain of information.  This intellectual climb may seem daunting at first, but I promise, it is better to be on top, with the smart hot chicks and interesting folk, than to be on the bottom, where what constitutes news is whatever  emanates from Perez Hilton’s asshole that day.

No, magazines do not count.
