It was my eldest brother’s birthday yesterday and he shared a very valuable lesson with me.
Age is just a number, but it is also your age.
As we approach the second quarter of our lives, it is imperative to maintain a youthful outlook and lifestyle, to not lose the creativity and vigor of our teens and the drive of our early twenties. This is quite a standard message. I think, however, the crux of what my brother is attempting to pass to us, is that while feeling and acting young are a necessity, we should also embrace our age. With age comes many immeasurable advantages over youth and if we do not recognize and utilize them, we will be marooned in a mist of youthful fantasy. Age is wisdom. Age is experience.
We must embrace our age with the vigor of our teens and the drive of our early twenties.
