At one point or another we have all engaged in the endless where-do-you-want-to-have-dinner debates ending in a sagging agreement of “Sure, let’s go there, again. I liked the color of their napkins anyway.” These mindless, I-don’t-want-to-step-on-your-toes fights are fruitless. Fruitless! They are a staple of stale love affairs and an antic of all types of relationships, from business to bro’s. In truth, they come from a good place. We want to be respectful of our partners and their feelings. As humans we are compassionate, but please, save the compassion for a real cause. (Text “Haiti” to 90999 to make a $10 donation to the Red Cross!)
Make the executive decision. Take it upon yourself to bare the burden of what happens that evening. Have the cojones to end millennia of petty arguments stemming from common courtesy. These rifts have no place in the conversational sphere. They are merely an unanticipated side effect hatched from man’s good will.
Exercise your confidence and put your foot down. A drama free night is a great night.
